An impressive French Art Deco alabaster pendant light from the 1920s – sculptural in form, richly veined, and glowing with a dimensional, cloud-like effect when illuminated.
This large French Art Deco pendant light, dating to the 1920s, combines refined craftsmanship with striking natural materials. The generously sized alabaster bowl (50 cm / 19.7 in) is beautifully carved with a scalloped rim and a central medallion detail that accentuates its graceful, fluted form.
The stone itself displays dark and light veining in shades of cream, grey, and brown, with subtle translucency that creates a deep, atmospheric glow when lit. The illumination brings out the alabaster’s natural layers, enhancing its dimensional quality and cloud-like texture.
Suspended from geometric brass chains and a matching canopy, the fixture balances elegance with strength. The chain links not only provide secure support but also serve as a striking design feature in their own right.
