About the Item

A true treasure. Available at this time, a monumental chandelier for a private entertainment hall designed by Paavo Tynell. One of 2 available. Located in a historically important Estate, these chandeliers were witness to many family dinners, movie nights, and theatrical shows. Created in 1956 and sourced by the local architects, these lamps are a rarity. There are very few such large and important works by Tynell made for institutions let alone a private commission in the US. This chandelier is a unique piece, custom ordered and created especially for the hall they are still located in. Only three were created. One family owned and never before offered for sale. Constructed by hand and of solid brass throughout, these lamps have both up and downwards lighting. Eight large conical uprights and 4 square down lamps in a grid configuration. Much more than simply lighting, these chandeliers are useable sculpture. Striking craftsmanship and scale. Height and drop adjustable with the large counterweight in the centre of the body of the lamp. These would look equally incredibly in a large dining room, a lobby, or showroom. Please note: as these are still in use and in situ, there will be an 8-12 week lead time to have removed and crated for shipment.
