About the Item

A most elegant and highly detailed French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu, patinated Bronze, etched Crystal and Giallo Antico marble Torchière floor lamp. The floor lamp is raised on a square Giallo Antico marble base with four Ormolu foliate paw feet and two central rosettes on all sides. Above the marble base is a two tiered Ormolu socle with mottled edges, dentil patterns, fluted designs, and foliate decorations. The finely decorated socle serves as a plinth for the marble shaft above. The tapered marble body displays large scale palmettes along the base which lead up the marble shaft with a stunning overlapping foliate garland. At the top of the marble body is a front facing oval etched Crystal plaque with a beaded Ormolu edge and topped by a flowing bowed ribbon. Sitting atop the lamp is a patinated Bronze cherub with gilded hair and wings holding an 'S' scrolled and foliate cornucopia with an Ormolu candle cup.
