About the Item

The Wrapped Lavender Lion’s Paw Floor Lamp is the statuesque standout of the Venus Collection, a whimsical family of handmade fixtures inspired by the Surrealists and natural forms of the sea. Employing the latest advances in cool-to-the-touch LED technology, the collection features table lamps, floor lamps, and sconces made with hand-selected specimen seashells in place of traditional shades, putting the organic source material behind so much 20th century modernism front and center.
First synthesized for a private client from the DNA of its table-sized sister lamp, Model No. 23 is centered on a graduated, two-tiered lavender-tinted cast-concrete base, with a papercord-wrapped column, unfinished brass hardware, chocolate-brown cloth-covered cord, and black Bakelite Achille Castiglioni-designed on/off foot switch. We liked it so much we decided to add it to the family.
Its shade is constructed from a matching pair of sustainably sourced, naturally translucent, variegated lavender Lion’s Paw scallop shells. Permanently fused open at the scallop's natural hinge, the shade is fully adjustable on the vertical axis.
