Fontana Arte "Nobi" LED Wall Lamp Sconce with Glass Diffuser, Metis Lighting

About the Item

"Nobi" is a wall lamp sconce, designed by Metis Lighting and manufactured by Fontana Arte, featuring a frame in chromed or satin nickel metal, an adjustable diffuser in frosted glass and an aluminium reflector for indirect light diffusion. Its lighting source is 14W Led (2700K, CRI>80, Lumen 1400). Dimensions: Ø 9.1", D. 15.3". H. 9.1" A circumference of chromed or satin metal with a circular diffuser, formed from a pair of cast, sandblasted and tempered glass lenses, two apparently simple elements that hide a complex system. The adjoined convex lenses are in fact held in place by a system of small clamps and fixed to the metal structure with two pins, the same on which the light source is also mounted. The diffuser can thus rotate on itself and orient the light flow in different directions. Innovative and available in multiple versions, Nobi provides maximum functionality while retaining a powerful aesthetic presence. Now available with LED light source, which adds energy efficiency and long life to the existing technical features. Both architects Marinella Patetta and Claudio Valént got masters in lighting design and many years of experience: they met at Piero Castiglioni's studio and, after a few years, in 1989 they founded Metis Lighting, working exclusively in lighting and Industrial Design. Their work enhances space thanks to lighting engineering projects that integrate their know-how gained from various fields into a synthesis of different disciplines. For Fontana Arte, in the early 1990s they designed the whole "Nobi" series, a collection on the Fine line between decorative and technical lighting – immediately and still today one of the company's bestsellers. Their design of the "Gallery" projector dates back to 2006. Their professional activity has recently been joined by teaching and university research at the faculty of Industrial Design at Milan Polytechnic.

Fontana Arte "Optunia" Cast Glass Table Lamp by Claesson Koivisto Rune
By Claesson Koivisto Rune, Fontana Arte
Located in Brooklyn, NY
"Optunia" is a wall lamp, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune and manufactured by FontanaArte, featuring a structure in cast aluminum, available with paints in white, onyx or glossy black nickel-plated colors. The price of this lamp reflects the white finish. Please inquire for pricing on additional colors. Molded cast glass, frosted and painted from behind, working as a diffuser. Base in painted metal. Power source housed in the base for the wall and ceiling versions, in the breadboard for the hanging version or onto a peg in the table version. It can be provided with a dimmer and lighting sources are 2 x 11W LED (3000K, CRI>80, Lumen 1384 + 1384). Dimensions: Ø 5.1" (discs), D. 9.8", H. 10.3" "Optunia" is a collection of lighting elements available in four variants for tabletop (with or without stem), floor, wall and ceiling. Its functionality lies in the possibility of rotating the two discs that make up the nearly 360 degrees head, opening up an extraordinary number of lighting combinations. The lower disc rotates on one axis, while the upper disk simultaneously rotates on a second axis, perpendicular to the first. This double movement gives "Optunia" the advantages of both direct and indirect light emission, exploiting the surface of the wall or ceiling to produce a soft light. Complementing its functionality, the design of such lamp is reminiscent of a form found in nature: the two disks resemble the pads of the prickly pear called "Opuntia ficus-indica", from which the lamp takes its name. A collection of exceptional technical sophistication, whose form is further emphasized by its colors: opaque white, bold and clean, dark mirrored chrome, recalling the preciousness of metal, a darker shade resembling onyx and quartz color, shifting from dark brown to black. Claesson Koivisto Rune is a Swedish architectural partnership, founded in Stockholm in 1995 by Marten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune. It started as an architectural firm, but has since become an internationally acclaimed and multi-disciplinary office with an equal emphasis on both architecture and design. They were the first Swedish office exhibiting in the international section at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2004, they are also responsible for award-wining projects such as the Tind Prefab house collection for Fiskarhedenvillan, Widlund House private villa on Öland, Örsta Gallery building in Kumla, Sfera Building culture house in Kyoto and Nobis Hotel in Stockholm. They design for well known international companies such as Arflex, Asplund, Blueair, Boffi, Capdell, Cappellini, Casamania, David design, Discipline, Dune NY...
