Pair of French Early 19th Century Louis XIV St. Ormolu Sconces
About the Item
An exquisite pair of French early 19th century Louis XIV st. ormolu sconces. Each two arm sconce is centered by a striking and richly chased bottom foliate reserve with beautiful oak leaves and acorns with a pan flute and handsome bearded satyr. At the center is a beautiful and finely detailed maiden with a crossed quiver and eternal flame amidst wonderful foliate designs from where the elegantly scrolled arms branch out. Each arm is adorned with fine acanthus leaves and displays reeded candle cups. Above are additional richly chased foliate designs and impressive royal Fleur de Lys at the top. All original gilt throughout.
