About the Item
A charming and high quality pair of French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu sconces. Each two arm sconce is centered by a fine bottom foliate finial below the elegant tapered central support decorated with richly chased laurel branches set on a hammered background and framed within a Coeur de Rai border. Each elegantly curved arm displays a lovely acanthus leaf and fluted design leading to circular foliate bobeches with a fine mottled border. Above are the charming Bacchanalian cherubs draped in fine garments with their hands at each side seemingly holding the arms. All original gilt throughout.
