About the Item

Stunning Volubile Table Lamp “Petit Modèle” Designed by Hervé Van Der Straeten The Volubile lamp elegantly merges movement, asymmetry, and entanglement. Its bronze structure, featuring a two-tone patina, creates a captivating contrast between opacity and shine. Stamp of the artist on the back Hervé Van der Straeten – b. In 1965 Hervé Van der Straeten is a renowned French designer celebrated for his bold and innovative creations in jewelry, furniture, and decorative arts. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he initially gained attention in the mid 1980’s with his unique jewelry designs, which led to collaborations with prominent fashion houses such as Yves Saint Laurent, Thierry Mugler, and Christian Lacroix. Transitioning from jewelry to furniture design in the early 1990s, Van der Straeten established his own workshops in Bagnolet, a suburb of Paris. There, he and his team of skilled artisans craft limited-edition pieces that blend sculptural forms with meticulous craftsmanship. His work is characterized by the use of both noble materials like bronze, marble, and lacquer, as well as industrial elements such as anodized aluminum and polished steel. His contributions to design have been recognized with numerous honors, including the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (Living Heritage Company) label from the French Ministry of Culture in 2007, and he was appointed Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2008. Today, Van der Straeten's works are highly sought after by collectors worldwide and are featured in several public collections, including the Mobilier National and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Impressive and tall ceramic table lamp made by Robert Perot, stamped on the back with his manufacture name "VIEUX MOULIN VALLAURIS". In his early years Robert Perot worked on the restauration of the Reims cathedral, this influence is clear when we see how the main decor of this lamp reminds us of the stained glass frame we can find on such monuments. ROBERT PÉROT (1931-2003) Robert Pérot is a ceramist and a sculptor from the golden age of ceramics in Vallauris who pursued his studies at the School of fine Arts in Reims from 1946 to 1949, specializing in sculpture.
