Brutalist Constructivist 70s Italian Bent Aluminium Wood Table Lamp
About the Item
This unique lamp exemplifies the cool, material lead design of 1970's Italy.
Brushed aluminium sheet is perforated and bent to create the strong, reflective and protective shades of this piece. Sitting in a framework structure of solid wood joined in an architectural manner, the shades are perched on a solid wood base.
The curved shades are connected to the rectiinear structure by horizontal wooden beams with a stripe of aluminium, which helps to break the volume and connect the two opposing materials and forms.
Allowing slivers of light through the perforations, whilst creating a soft, mellow light through its reflective interior, the lamp is both practical and atmospheric. Embodying the idea of truth of material, the smooth, thin and cool-to-the-touch shades contrast with the warmth of its wooden structure, creating a dynamic, powerful yet modest result.
In very good vintage condition, the piece exhibits small scratches consistent with age and wear. The piece is hardwired to European standards.
