Max LE VERRIER creates his monkey with an umbrella, in front of the cages of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. His model, a three-year-old chimpanzee, had the pretty name of BOUBOU. A great friendship was born between the monkey and the artist, passionate about animals... BOUBOU, held by the keeper outside the cage, agreed to pose in exchange for bananas.
