About the Item
Danish Mid-Century ceramic table lamp of the 1960-70s. Glazed stoneware.
Organic style, glazed in brown / beige with an impressed pattern. Rattan lampshade of the period in very nice state.
Manufactured by Søholm Stentøj (Soholm pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. Signed with manufacturers mark, unknown designer.
Søholm Stentøj, which means Soholm’s sandstone, was founded in 1835 by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Sonne. The name Søholm, comes from the factory where the two founders were employed, a pottery near Copenhagen, in 1828-1839. It was the oldest factory operating in Bornholm, a Danish island off the south coast of Sweden, until it closed in 1996.
In the middle of the 20th century, Søholm produced a wide range of stoneware in various patterns and shapes. Several Designers worked for Søholm Stentøj as Einar Johansen, Maria Philippi, Noomi Backhausen among others.
New wiring. Works with 110v and 220v and a E26/E27 bulb. The EU-plug can be replaced by US-plug for free.
