A French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Biscuit Porcelain lamp
About the Item
A stunning and most decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Biscuit Porcelain lamp. This very attractive lamp is raised on a square Ormolu base with concave corners and a mottled reeded base with crossing patterns around the edge. Atop the base is a socle shaped Biscuit Porcelain support accented by a beaded Ormolu band around the bottom and spaced foliate decorated Ormolu chandelle designs running down the pedestal. The base of the Biscuit Porcelain body is tastefully decorated by elaborate foliate designs that wrap around and secure the body's base. The midsection of the Porcelain body is decorated with a lovely basket of flowers that hangs from a knotted garment. Between the two hanging baskets on the porcelain body are slender acanthus leaves topped with a tied flowing ribbon and additional protruding acanthus leaves on top which attaches to the egg and dart designed band around the top of the body. Above the body is the socle shaped neck with slender Ormolu chandelles and curved foliate mounts. The Ormolu pierced top cap contains additional egg and dart patterns along with an array of foliate decorations at the peak.
