French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu And Breccia Marble Lamps
About the Item
A pair of most impressive and large scale French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Breccia marble lamps. This finely detailed pair of urns mounted into lamps are raised by square Breccia marble bases above half round Ormolu ball feet. Above is a richly chased berried laurel band below the concave socle with a mottled top and an Ormolu foliate spray below a raised marble band. Above and wrapping around the urns are recessed panels decorated with richly chased Ormolu foliate movements and animals, and centered by a mask of Bacchus. To each side are large scale rams head handles which are joined by a stunning Ormolu swaging garland of blossoming flowers all below a beaded Ormolu band and fanciful foliate top rim.
