"Hat" Lamp in hand-turned teak wood and metal fixtures.
About the Item
This handmade lamps are one off pieces crafted out of solid wood turned into a traditional lathe operated by expert turner with over 30 years of experience. The tone and direction of the wood's growth rings are like a finger print of each unique piece. The base, which could be commissioned to be perpendicular to the floor plane, is proposed to be slightly angled to convey this same idea of growth and uniqueness. The concept behind this piece reflects on the very nature of craftsmanship as the very definition of what it means to be human. The hat, is and has been a symbol of shelter and hard work.

Jorge Suárez-Kilzi is an architect with a wide international experience in Switzerland, Spain, Korea, Sweden and Japan. Worked for Architectes Kazuyo Sejima, Ryue Nishizawa and Junya Ishigami at their Tokyo offices. After several years of freelancing as a creative support to other architecture offices, has launched this solo project centred in creating playful and timeless designs that breath elegance and sobriety. Our first produced items were three porcelain jugs and two fibreglass and steel lamps. We expect the family to grow extensively and are open to any requests and preorders on our ongoing designs.
