Hollywood Regency Lotus Flower Lamp in Polished Brass by Feldman c. 1960

Inject a warm golden glow and an organic sensibility into your space with this petite 1960s newly polished lotus flower table lamp by Feldman Lighting Company often described as in the style of Tommi Parzinger. The lamp features a central lotus flower stem and two branches finished with leaf and lotus bulb end pieces. Beautifully detailed and etched, each brass piece is carved with organic markings for a more natural organic look. A small snail rests peacefully atop the lotus leaf base. This particular lamp is the smallest in size of the Feldman Lotus Flower lamp collection and works perfectly on a bedside table, in a kitchen nook or desk, atop an entry console or anywhere you'd like to add a warm and elegant golden glow. The lamp was professionally rewired and professionally polished and lacquered to retain the brass glow. Majestic, organic and inspiring tall lotus flower brass lamp famously made by the Feldman Lighting Company beginning in the 1950s. Feldman Lighting offered a large line of lotus inspired fixtures, lamps, centerpieces and candle holders of many forms and sizes of which our shop carries several of. This particular lamp is the largest of the lotus flower line. As if born from light - each layer representing a season of life - a ring of lotus flower petals grows in size with each layer down to maturity and full bloom. The lotus traditionally symbolizes strength. It can grow in even polluted waters and bloom, just with light. It perseveres through even the toughest obstacles to bloom. Brass petals are embossed with small lines softening the brass and adding organic detail. They are also malleable and can be gently bent to your pleasure. An exquisite brass table lamp by the renowned Marbro Company, made in the 1950’s, the piece displays influences of Art Nouveau and Brutalist styles, the detailed lotus flower with buds to the centre, features brutalist embellishment to the central stem. The lamp has a single large bayonet lamp fitting, a true interiors piece, and highly collectable from one of America’s most after lighting manufacturers. Without shade Height 87cm x Base Width 23cm. Shade is not included, purely a modern replacement for photographic purposes The Marbro Company The company was founded by Morris Markoff and his brother, hence the name Marbro from Markoff brothers. They started the company shortly after WWII. The company was located in a 3 story brick building in the garment district of Los Angeles, just south of downtown right by the Santa Monica Freeway. During the time they ran the company, they sold almost as many antiques as they did lamps. Marbro sold their products mainly through interior designers and a few upscale furniture stores. You would not find a Marbro product in a chain furniture store or a discount store. Most of the products were built to order. A typical order from a designer or retailer took between 75 and 90 days to complete. Most of the components that made up the lamp bodies (ceramic, brass, glass, etc) were purchased from small companies around the world. In the later years almost all of the brass came from India. For the most part, none of the bodies were made on site. Marbro was well-known for importing a variety of unique lighting components from all over the world. Italy was the source for alabaster, Japan and China for Porcelain, Brass in India and Crystal from Germany...
