Japanese Red Green Gold Porcelain Table Lamp
About the Item
Exquisite large Japanese contemporary gilded and intricately hand painted porcelain table lamp in an auspicious double gourd crackled fine porcelain body in red and green, showcasing two panels with creamy white background, one depicting two graceful auspicious cranes strolling proudly amidst plum blossoms and chrysanthemums, and the other depicting an impressive eagle in gold spreading wings amidst red and white plum blossoms, and peonies. The panels are framed by foliage on an iron-red background.
The collar of this magnificent table lamp is decorated with two small panels framed by scalloped cartouches in dark blue, depicting orange peonies surrounded by foliage on a white background.
The two adjacent towns of Imari and Arita in the southern island of Kyushu, with a history of over 400 years, are the birthplace of Japanese porcelain. Imari, a port city, was the first place in Japan to introduce Japanese porcelain to the west.
The sheer size, elegant shape and breathtaking patterns make this lamp the focal point in any space.
The elegant square-shaped raised base is in polished brass with eight detailed legs.
