Japanese Contemporary Green Pink Red Gold Porcelain Vase by Master Artist, 2

About the Item

Exquisite contemporary Japanese porcelain decorative vase hand painted in gold, pink, red and green on an elegant bottle shape body, a signed work by highly acclaimed Japanese master porcelain artist in Imari-Arita tradition of Japan, and recipient of numerous awards for his exceptional porcelain work and his unique gold and platinum work on porcelain. In 2016, the British Museum added a work by this artist to its collection of contemporary Japanese porcelain, a large lidded jar in the Imari-Arita polychrome enamel tradition. The artist's profile is available upon request. It depicts peonies in red and pink and chrysunthemum, set against a stunning green background decorated with foliage in gold throughout. Peonies, long known as "king of flowers," symbolize good fortune and honor, and they both have been adorning paintings, ceramics, silk painting and many other expressions of Japanese art. The stunning shape the beautiful contrast of the green background and bright flowers and the foliage rendered in gold create a mesmerizing piece that invites the viewer to approach it and explore its details. "Fired-on gold," his signature style, highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting and multiple firing processes that yield a stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as five-ten firings. This unique hand painted porcelain vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: H 10 in, D 8.5 in.
