Table lamp in carved stone by Albert Tormos, St Tropez France 1970s
About the Item
Carved Luberon stone lamp by Albert Tormos, this lamp was produced in the seventies in his workshop in St-Tropez, France.
The lamp is good condition and working order, slight traces of use but no damage, comes with the original bulb fitting and wiring.
Albert Tormos was a French sculptor renowed for his cubist style inspired lamps designed throughout the sixties and seventies in his workshop in St-Tropez. He used a type of limestone called Pierre du Lubéron, which while easier to carve than sandstone is still a very solid type of limestone that is often used in construction.
This model has softer curves than what is found in most of his work, and offers a very diffuse ambient light. The lamp is signed AT, engraved in the base.
