About the Item

Large scandinavian table lamp in stoneware by Nymølle Pottery, Denmark. Glazed in blueish / turquoise tones. New hand-made raffia lampshade on a vintage lampshade structure. Produced by Nymølle Pottery, Denmark, probably in the 1960s. Nymølle studio pottery and art pottery was actif in Denmark from about 1946 until 1975. It is well known because the company manufactured a multitude of ceramics created by Gunnar Nylund between 1959 and 1963. The designer Bjørn Wiinblad also entrusted Nymølle with the production of his creations and even bought the company in 1976 after they went bankrupt. His tableware designs with line drawings in red, blue, or black are exemplary for Nymølle and his series of plates for the months of the year were very succesful in the 1960s. This particular lamp is signed “Nymølle” as well as the initials SH (which I was unable to attribute). The raffia lampshade reminds the style of Papercord or Rattan lampshades. It was handmade for this lamp. Lampshade: diameter 15.75"/9.84" (40/25 cm) - height 11.81" (30 cm). Total total height of the lamp is 26.77" (68 cm). Height of the ceramic = 13" (33 cm). This lamp was initially produced as a vase and has been converted to a lamp decades ago. It has been re-electrified and the socket replaced. The EU-plug can be replaced by an US plug free of charge.
