Pierre Cardin
Best known for creating groundbreaking fashion designs from the 1950s onward, Pierre Cardin enjoyed great success in other design fields, most notably furniture. Cardin’s chairs, cabinets, tables and other pieces share many of the keynotes of his clothing designs. They are simple, geometric, elegant and cool.
Cardin was born in a village near Venice, Italy, and raised in central France. Always interested in fashion, he left home at age 17 to train with a Vichy tailor. After the end of World War II, Cardin moved to Paris and worked for a succession of couture houses, before taking a job with Christian Dior in 1946. Cardin went solo in 1950, and quickly won attention for his novel style. Unlike Dior’s famous New Look, Cardin’s clothes de-emphasized a woman’s curves; his breakthrough pieces like the Bubble dress had, instead, a sculptural quality. In the following decade, Cardin introduced bright tunic dresses and shifts, marketed as the Space Age look and accessorized with vinyl hats and visors.
In the 1970s Cardin expanded his design work into furniture, jewelry and automobiles. (Later, licensing agreements would put Cardin’s name on goods ranging from perfume to sunglasses.) Cardin’s furniture pieces — inspired, perhaps, by the rediscovery of Art Deco design in that decade — feature simple, symmetrical forms, lacquer and figured veneer finishes, and accents in metals such as aluminum and brass.
Whether you are looking for a vintage cocktail dress or a chest of drawers to keep it in, as you will see on 1stDibs, Pierre Cardin offers an option in either that is timelessly chic.

- Massimo Papiri Cocktail Table by Mario Sabot Italy, 1970By Mario Sabot, Massimo PapiriLocated in Roosendaal, Noord BrabantThis iconic seventies cocktail table is designed by Massimo Papiri and manufactured by Mario Sabot, Italy 1970. If you want to feel like James Bond, this table is what you need. This cocktail table is amongst the most prolific and therefore most wanted objects of this Italian architect, Massimo Papiri. The cocktail table immediately draws all the attention towards it, because of the classy and glamorous appearance. The black high gloss painted melamine top matches the clean stainless-steel sides in a harmonic way. The table has the appearance to be closed as all the parts fit perfectly together, however on the inside of this cocktail table, you will find an illuminated dry bar, making this table glamorous, sculptural, and architectural at the same time. The middle part is made of blinded plexiglass so when the light is off, you will think there is nothing behind, however when you lit the inside, you will see the bottles and glasses stored in there which is an amazing feature of this tables design. The big round part on the side provides a stainless-steel bucket...Category

$3,793 / item - Giacomo Onestini ceramic sculpture Italy 1970By Giacomo OnestiniLocated in Roosendaal, Noord BrabantBeautiful ceramic sculpture designed by Giacomo Onestini made in his own atelier in Italy in 1970. It has a combination of matte and shiny glazed surfaces. The back and sides of the sculpture have a textured surface with shades of gray, green, and sometimes turquoise. On the front, there's a carved-out section that's smooth and glazed with red and gold hues. It's a very appealing and intriguing piece. You can find the artist's signature, "Onestini," on the side of the sculpture. This piece was created in the artist's personal studio. Very nice large sized, heavy piece and in excellent condition. After graduating as a master ceramist, Onestini moved to San Marino where he found employment at the "Marmaca" ceramics factory. Around the end of the 1950s, he moved to Salerno and began working with the "Ernestine...Category
