About the Item
A fabulous 19th century giltwood overmantle mirror. The mirror glass plate of arch top form is set within a stunningly hand carved, moulded and pierced giltwood frame, surmounted with an elegantly ornate, centred crest composition comprising of centred cartouche and cabochon with wreath, berry, scrolls and leaves, flanked with an arrangement of trailing foliate and acanthus leaf motifs. The shaped platform base with a further arrangement of scrolling acanthus leaf motif detail to the sides.
