Estrid Ericson Mirror with Ivy and Gilded Detail for Svenskt Tenn 1950s

About the Item

ESTRID ERICSON AND SVENSKT TENN - SCANDINAVIAN MODERN A beautiful linen covered mirror by the Swedish pioneer in design, Estrid Ericson. The linen covered frame is decorated with ivy leaves. Gilded detail along the inner edge of the mirror. Designed and produced by Svenskt Tenn 1950s. Very good condition. Swedish designer and entrepreneur Estrid Ericson was born in 1894. In 1924 she founded Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm. Estrid Ericson wanted to offer beautiful yet affordable pewter (a newly popular material at the time), including modernist sculptures, boxes, candlesticks, and mirror frames. Svenskt Tenn earned a reputation for quality and received a gold medal at the 1925 Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. Within a few years, the company had expanded to become one of Stockholm’s most fashionable furniture and interior design shops. About us: We specialise in fine works of original twentieth-century design with specific focus on Scandinavian design from the period 1930 to 1960. We procure items that have a history and/or have a particular aesthetic from the period. Our collection represents some of the finest examples of craftsmanship, architecture, and high-grade design by the most renowned Scandinavian 20th Century designers including Hans J. Wegner, Arne Vodder, Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, Poul Henningsen, Alvar Aalto, Paavo Tynell, Estrid Ericson, Poul Kjærholm, Mogens Lassen and Josef Frank. We are extraordinarily passionate about Kaare Klint and have over the years gained a significant knowledge of his craftmanship and have included many beautiful Kaare Klint pieces in our inventory. We have a long history of working with international galleries, interior architects and private collectors. Please feel free to contact us for specific requests or if you should wish to arrange a personal viewing.
