About the Item

A stunning pair of French 19th century neo-classical st. mahogany and ormolu mirrors. The original beveled mirror plates are framed within a striking and most decorative mahogany border. The scalloped shaped base displays richly chased scrolled and foliate ormolu mounts below fine fitted rinceaux shaped mirrored ormolu bands. Leading up each side are columns with acanthus leaf ormolu mounts, fine rosettes and a palmette design. The striking top crown displays an exceptional central design with a finely chased plaque of a female face At each side are wonderfully chased swaging floral garlands and rich palmettes at each top corner.
