About the Item
An exceptional and very unique Italian 18th century neo-classical st. giltwood mirror. The mirror retains its original mirror plate set within an elegant wrap around mottled band. The base is centered by a charming richly carved circular floral reserve flanked by lovely scrolled foliate movements and unique most decorative legs at each side with a scrolled design, fine block rosettes with beautiful urns. Additional striking scrolled elements lead upwards at each top corner centering the stunning pierced top crown. The top crown is centered by a finely detailed mask of a beautiful maiden set on a hammered background flanked by superb block reserves with charming rosettes, fine urn shaped finials, swaging floral garlands, and a graceful richly carved top Fleur de Lys amidst blooming flowers. All original gilt throughout.
