About the Item

An unusual mirror that you will rarely find again. Elegant and irreverent at the same time, this article reproduces a French Regency style mirror with all the decorative elements typical of the late 18th century which instead of being carved in gilded wood are made and hand painted in pastel pink ceramic. This vintage mirror looks like it came straight out of the pastel-toned wallpaper, costumes and upholstery from the set of Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" Laurel leaves, ribbons and an almost architectural decorative motif, with a series of relief arches in the frame, are hand painted in pastel pink on a glossy white base with golden details by one of the factories of Capodimonte, a very important ceramic center founded in Naples by King Charles of Bourbon and his wife Maria Amalia of Saxony during the 18th century. It is not only the "architectural" decorative motif that recalls the works of Piero Fornasetti but above all the intent to desacralize classical art with pop materials and colors. The mirror is in good vintage condition, it shows an imperceptible imperfection highlighted in the photo.
