We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning circa 1760 mahogany and giltwood Phoenix Thomas Chippendale wall mirror A rare, collectable and highly coveted wall mirror. Known as the Thomas Chippendale Phoenix mirror these are quintessentially English, designed by the greatest furniture maker in England’s history, Chippendale chairs sell in the millions This mirror is what’s called an original patina piece meaning it has been lightly restored to include a clean wax and polish however not fully restored to cover the age-related patination. The timber has various timber shrinkage cracks, as expected with a 260+ year old piece. The mirror plate is thick with a wide band bevel, it has a gold gilt surround and the Phoenix is course gilt as well Dimensions: Height 75.5cm Width 43.5cm Depth 2.7cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
