Rare WWII Gauges from B-17 and B-24 Airplanes

About the Item

Three rare WWII gauges mounted on custom-made metal museum stand. Middle Gauge is called a PDI, a top secret gauge during WWII. The gauges on the left & right are rare engine oil temperature gauges one for the 2 engines on the left wing and one gauge for the two engines on the right wing. "PDI" Pilot Deviation Indicator This is a original authentic WWII cockpit instrument panel Gauge as used in the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress & B-24 Liberators during WWII. PDI stands for Pilot Deviation Indicator. The PDI was used by the pilot, co-pilot & bombardier to navigate to the bomb drop target thru the Nordon Bomb Sight. It was used in conjunction with the planes autopilot, which in most cases did not work properly or failed. The plane & indicator must be held on the “O” to stay on target. Authentic 74 YEAR OLD WWII B-17 Flying Fortress & B24 Liberators Cockpit instrument panel gauges These gauges are from B-17 & B-24 WWII heavy bombers that were flown & used during WWII. Brave Americans flew the planes in many combat missions in the war for Europe After the war ended in 1945, the planes were sent from all points from around the world to be scrapped here in the United States. The only items removed from the thousands of planes before being cut up and melted into blocks of aluminium were the propellers and the gauges. About 99.99% of the gauges were buried deep in remote parts of the desert. Only a few of the gauges were saved and are now offered for sale until they are gone forever. The gauges have not been restored; they are in their as found condition. If you prefer to clean and polish them, it’s up to you. The gauges are displayed on a metal museum Stand specifically made for these unique pieces of World War II history. Packed and shipped in white carton, see photo.

Rare M4 Leather WWII Horse Gas Mask

M4 US Government Army Issue World War II, vintage 1941-1942 Horse Gas Masks are very scarce. Due to the large size, most were discarded after the war. Occasionally, one will pop up, but most are incomplete or in poor condition. The M4 Horse Gas Mask has 2 large filter canisters, one placed on each shoulder of the horse. It has a chest mounted pack, and a rubber mask for the horse's muzzle. Flexible hoses run between the components, and leather straps keep everything secure to the horse. Horses (Cavalry) and Pack Mules were not as common in WWII as they were in WWI, making the Horse Gas Mask all the more rare.
