Presented is a signed limited edition printing of Cokie Roberts’ Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation. This book was published in Norwalk, Connecticut by Easton Press, in 2008. The book was issued in a limited edition print run of only 1050 signed copies, each with its own certificate of authenticity. The certificate of authenticity is dated March 13, 2008, and is signed by author Cokie Roberts, a witness, and publisher at Easton Press, Peter Sydney. Roberts additionally signed the limitation page in red felt-tipped ink. The book is numbered 691 of 1050 leather-bound first editions. In Ladies of Liberty, Roberts brings to life the extraordinary accomplishments of 18th and 19th century women who laid the groundwork for a better society. Roberts recounts the stories of first ladies and freethinkers, educators and explorers, with insight and humor and draws on personal correspondence, private journals, and other primary sources, many of them previously unpublished. The stories told include the lives of Abigail Adams, Dolley Madison, Rebecca Gratz, Louise Livingston, Sacagawea, and others. Ladies of Liberty sheds new light on the generation of heroines, reformers, and visionaries who helped shape our nation, finally giving these extraordinary ladies the recognition they so greatly deserve. Cokie Roberts (1943-2019) was a political commentator for ABC News, a senior news analyst for NPR, with prominent positions on Morning Edition, The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, World News Tonight, and This Week. In addition to broadcasting, Roberts, along with her husband, Steven V. Roberts, wrote a weekly column syndicated in newspapers across the country by United Media. She was the best-selling author of several books, including From This Day Forward, Founding Mothers, and Ladies of Liberty. CONDITION: Very good condition. Octavo. With original Certificate of Authenticity from Easton Press, dated March 13, 2008 and signed by Cokie Roberts, a witness, and Easton Press publisher, Peter Sydney. Signatures are legible, in black and blue ink. Roberts signed the limitation page in red felt-tipped ink. The book is numbered "691" out of 1050 on the limitation page. Interior pages are healthy and clean throughout, with no marks or tears. Presented with a new archival slipcase, front inlaid with a photograph of Roberts.
