Monumental, life-size portrait of Isabella, wife of Philip the IV. Unsigned oil painting in the Baroque style of Velazquez who originally painted similar portraits of Isabella in the 17th century. This painting is a copy by an unknown artist. A like Velazquez painting hangs in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Features include a gold gilt frame we believe to be original. The wrought iron rings are still intact on the back of the frame.
An art historian and expert who cleaned the painting attributed the canvas to being attached in an 18th century manner (the way the canvas is attached to the stretcher includes a tack that was inserted and bent over.)
