Regency Mahogany Childs Chest of Drawers

About the Item

A delightful regency period mahogany childs chest, having well figured top over two short and three long drawers with replacement brass knobs, raised on original splayed feet with elegant shaped apron. Childrens furniture is generally found much less often rarer than its full size and scale counterparts for many reasons, the most obvious of which being that there was simply far less of these effective scale models produced. Generally childrens furniture was made to the same specifications, but on a smaller scale, for the children of wealthy families to have and to use. This childs chest is a nice one, good quality and constructed from good, well figured timbers. The brass knobs are later replacements, it would probably have had turned wooden ones originally, however these brass ones work rather well and sit very attractively. From a purely practical perspective it is the perfect size to be used in a whole host of different spaces around the home, but would make an excellent modern day coffee table type item alongside a chair, or sofa. As with all items which we offer for sale this childs chest of drawers has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers to ensure that it is in excellent retail showroom condition and ready for immediate placement. Circa 1820. Height 20in. Width 18in. Depth 10.5in.
