English Early 19th Century Mahogany & Satinwood Child's Chest of Inlaid Drawers

About the Item

English early 19th century mahogany and satinwood child's chest of drawers. This small chest has a satinwood top, banded with mahogany and strung with boxwood; the rest of the carcass is in mahogany. Each of the four drawers has intricate narrow banding of various woods around the edges. The french flared out feet balance the overhung top perfectly and the shaped skirt adds to the gracefulness. We find that small chests like this one work in a variety of spaces, but particularly next to a chair where a lower height and smaller footprint is required or as a jewelry or even silver chest. Circa 1820.
