About the Item
Amazing workmanship and truly ancient looking, Medieval style antique Sanctuary vase.
This great looking and all handcrafted Gothic Revival vase is the first one of its kind that we have ever seen. Since we cannot find another one anywhere in the world it is hard to know exactly what we have found. This is happening more and more often and in one way that ofcourse is a blessing. On the other hand, it is not easy to put a price on such items, because what is a one of a kind antique worth? Because of the aging of the terracotta body, the beautiful wear of the coloring/surface of this vase (also known as the patina) and because of the 'crackling' of the glazed interior, we believe that this antique was handcrafted between circa 1850 and 1920. Because of the Gothic details we believe it is European and this Sanctuary vase looks especially marvelous on oak pieces of Gothic furniture from the same era or older. The octagonal design with the Apostles (or clergyman) standing in the Gothic church window panels really makes this church relic an absolute joy to own and to look at and the stylized quatrefoil symbols too give this unique antique its deeper meaning. So there is some honest wear/aging (as described earlier), but this rare antique is entirely original and untouched (as in unrestored). You may have to keep it out of reach or behind glass, because this is one of those tactile antiques that people will always want to touch, pick up and study. This pure Gothic piece will look great anywhere and it will instantly change the look and feel of the space it is in.
