Mid-Century, French Hand Carved Walnut Virgin Mary and Child Wall Statue
About the Item
This elegant antique wall statue of the Mother and Child, was carved in Southern France, circa 1960. The large alluring sculpture in high relief, features Madonna standing on an attached base, and holding her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Baby Jesus is holding what looks like a ball between his hands. The tall religious figure has wonderful carving details throughout the dress, hair and facial expressions. The religious statue is in excellent condition with a rich fruitwood patina.
