Rare Six-Light Gothic Revival Chandelier with Bronzed Knight & Swords & Crests
Located in Lisse, NL
Highly decorative, wrought iron, cast iron & oak Medieval Style chandelier.
With 20th century lighting as one of our specialities, we have seen a lot of great and unique fixtures, but never before did we come across an antique handcrafted Mediëval Style 'knight with large swords' chandelier. With his hands on his sword & shield and wearing a full body armour this knight is always on guard, protecting you and your loved ones. Have you also noticed the six larger swords that make the stylized torches on which the 'faux' candles are placed? Together with the two crests (with the Gothic castle towers) on either side, this beautiful and heavy quality workmanship chandelier has got the Gothic style written all over it. Handcrafted with forged and cast iron elements this largely bronzed, Gothic chandelier truly is a joy to own and to look at. If you have a room, a man cave or an entire house in the Gothic Style then finding a place for this rare, six light chandelier cannot be too difficult, because it will look marvelous everywhere. Thanks to the strong brass hook inside the original and height adjustable canopy, mounting this large chandelier tight to your ceiling will take no more than a couple of minutes. This Gothic knight...

Stunning Victorian Lighting Gothic Brass & Mouth Blown Art Glass Pendant Lantern
Located in Lisse, NL
Graceful and all handcrafted antique light fixture.
This early Arts & Crafts era pendant has an aesthetic beauty that you don't find anymore in this day and age. It has the most pleasing to the eye shape and amber color and the handcrafted brass has a marvelous patina. In images 2 and 3 you can see that this unique light fixture started its life as (and still is) a candle lantern. Because of the Gothic quatrefoil details this may have been a sanctuary lamp at the entrance of a church or monastery. The beautifully patinated brass is all hand-crafted, but the unique art glass shade with its unique hand-etched, flowery patterns and amazing color is what makes this antique truly special. Have you also noticed the 'stand-alone' etched oak branches with acorns? They symbolize growth and unlimited potential since an acorn can grow into a huge oak tree that, by itself, can seed an entire forest. Both with the light switched on and off you could not wish for a more stylish, European antique fixture. It is of the kind that you certainly don't find anymore in this day and age. This ideal hallway or bedroom pendant light...

Large Antique Crucifix with a Hand Carved & Bronzed Wooden Corpus of Jesus 1800s
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique and large size, antique corpus of Christ on a blackened oak cross.
If you are looking for a large crucifix with a not too overwhelming corpus of Christ for your house of prayer or for your home(chapel) then this unique ecclesiastical antique from the late 1800s could be the one. According to the former owner, this ancient bronze-color painted and sizable corpus and cross came from a monastery in Germany. The details in the anatomy of this Christ sculpture are very well carved and they clearly reveil the work of a seasoned carver / sculptor. We were also immediately impressed by the coloring, because the patina on this corpus from a little distance very much resembles the patina of antique bronze sculptures that you can find in every major market square here in Europe. We also particularly appreciate the details in the face and the position of the head of Christ. Both the angle in which He bowes His head and the details in His face are very realistic and they leave a lasting impression. We believe the artist has perfectly captured the moment in which Jesus bowed His head as He died on the cross. The ebonized oak cross is original to this corpus, but we think it was ebonized later in time, because it makes this unique and stunning sculpture stand out better. This solid oak cross has metal-strengthened openings in the back (both atop and at the bottom) via which this crucifix is safe and easy to mount. Because of the quality, the rarity, the large size, the beauty and the deeper meaning we are convinced that this antique crucifix too will find a new home soon. Whether it be in a private home, monastery or in a church, this work of religious art from the late 1800's will never fail to impress. Thanks to the pair of metal hooks on the back, safely mounting this ecclesiastical antique tight to your wall will be very easy to do.
Our fair price for this one of a kind crucifix even includes perfect packing (in a custom made crate) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days.
Maximum height x width x depth of the cross & corpus: 56 x 30.5 x 8 inches.

19th Century French Gothic Sacrament Cabinet
Located in Dallas, TX
19th Century French Gothic Sacrament cabinet was artfully sculpted from solid oak and fruitwood to create a remarkable religious artifact designed to be appreciated throughout the ages! The trapezoidal form of the casework is in keeping with the Gothic style, which historians concur originated in the Cathedral of St. Denis during the middle of the 12th century. Boldly molded crown follows the complex contours and overlooks the case below which features a single door flanked by cornerposts that feature pilasters facing front as well as the sides, with recessed arched panels topped with recessed circular frames above filled with carved rosettes highlighted in gold. The arched recesses facing the front are also filled with carved floral and wheat motifs also highlighted in gold, representing the Bread of Life. The door panel, however, steals the show, with a gloriously carved relief work depicting both wheat and fully laden grapevines adding the significance of the Blood of Christ...

Top Quality Hand Carved Antique Oak Saint or Holy Man Sculpture W Missing Hands
Located in Lisse, NL
Late 1800s, hand-carved oak sculpture of a Saint or clergyman.
Sometimes we find antique sculptures / works of religious art of such good quality that we simply need to purchase it, even if we don't know who they are. There are many people in the world who know much more about all the Saints than we do and they will probably immediately recognize the beautiful and calm facial features of this holyman. If you look at the empathetic expression on this finest carved Saint's face and you see the quality of the details then you too will realize why this can only be the work of a master carver/sculptor. And it is not just his face, because the natural and perfect body posture combined with the exceptional proportions of this antique sculpture could not be more realistic either. With all of these things taken into account we are certain that you will agree that this finest workmanship Saint sculpture is another one of our 'antiques with a soul'. Because of the missing hands, we have priced it so favourably that this stunning and sizable antique can be owned by people with a lower budget as well.
Mind you, our fair price for this antique Saint sculpture...

Late 19th Century Gothic Revival Reliquary Casket
Located in Dusseldorf, DE
A Gothic Revival reliquary. Circa late 19th / early 20th century. Made of solid oak with fine carving.
Reliquaries have been used to store relics since the Middle Ages. In sacred architecture they are often located behind the main altar in the chancel. In addition to classical, often church-like caskets, anthropomorphic, so-called "speaking" reliquaries were also made, which already inform the viewer about their contents through their own design. Mostly they were made of precious metals and decorated with rich sculptural ornaments or precious stones. One of the most famous examples of reliquaries is the Epiphany shrine of Nicholas of Verdun from the late 12th or early 13th century in Cologne Cathedral.
The reliquary offered here has an architectural structure with a rectangular ground plan. The three-sided glazed box with a dormer roof rests on a plinth.
A total of 8 columns of Corinthian order form the arcades which are crowned on both long sides by 3 lancets each and enclose the lancet windows...

Antique Large Carved Oak Figure of Saint Anthony of Padua, 18th-19th Century
Located in New York, NY
Fine hand carved oak figure of Saint Anthony of Padua
Late 18th- Early 19th Century
Saint Anthony is depicted with his head raised, mouth ajar, as if in the process of speaking. He stands upright wearing his traditional Franciscan robes and holding open a book. Beautifully carved with high level of detail, unusual for oak pieces. Oak is a dense hardwood which is difficult to carve and it's rare to see this level of detail in an early oak sculpture.
Saint Anthony is the Patron Saint of lost things. While living at the monastery, he had a treasured book which contained psalms and personal observations. His book was stolen by a man who decided to leave the monastery and Anthony ferverently prayed for its return as the cost of a new book would have been beyond his means. The thief repented and returned the book which is believed to be preserved at the Franciscan Library in Bologna. He is one of the most popular Catholic saints...
