This is an antique cased microscope. An English, enamelled metal and brass scientific instrument by J. Swift & Son of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Presented in a quality case, the microscope of appealing Victorian craftsmanship Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order throughout Black enamelled stand contrasting with the bright polished brass instrument Quality carry box shows rich caramel hues with inset lock — key absent Extending eyepiece tube over a rack and pinion main focus rail Three slot nosepiece resides above a square stage with rotary slide holders Stage engraved with a fine measuring grid Trio of accessory objective lenses resting within the case Bright, good quality rotating mirror beneath the slide holder Engraved to the rear with J. Swift & Son London maker's mark Dealer plaque to case for A. Franks of Deansgate, Manchester This is an appealing antique cased microscope with decorative appeal, and of fascination for those with an interest in scientific instruments.
