This is an antique cased microscope. An English, black enamel scientific instrument by J. Swift & Son of London, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910. Nicely presented and appealing scientific instrument, ideal for display Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order Enamelled metal body in striking black, with highly contrasting polished brass Mahogany carry box shows rich caramel hues and benefits from a working lock — key present Extendable eyepiece tube with a rack and pinion main focus guide Slide stage dressed with a pair of rotary clips and annotated with a grid scale Single objective mounted to the scope with a pair of accessory lenses within the box Bright mirror beneath the slide holder, mounted on a rotating arm Maker's mark in crisp white paint for J. Swift & Son, London The scope fits neatly within the carry case with segmented compartments for further accessories Matched J. Swift lenses present in striking golden casings Trio of glass slides and a box of later Rotring ink wells included This is a superb antique cased microscope with high decorative appeal, and of fascination for those with an interest in scientific instruments.
