Antique Cast Iron & Lacquered Brass Max Kohl Type Didactic Balance Device

About the Item

19th / 20th century didactic balance device, probably made for use in a physics laboratory or classroom. In the Style of Max Kohl (1853-1908), all in lacquered brass, a semi-circular rod passes through an inverted cone with a set-screw and has a spherical weight attached to each end. The black painted cast iron base with a circular foot below a tapered post with a divot in the top in which the point of the cone sits. Max Kohl was one of Germanys largest producers of educational, scientific and laboratory instruments in the late nineteenth century.
