Group of Five Early 1900s California Bay Area Silverplate Cycling Trophies

About the Item

An historically important grouping of five Bay Area, California, silverplate cycling club trophies dating from 1908 to 1917. A handsome collection of bicycle racing memorabilia, and a testament to San Francisco’s and its nearby cities’ indomitable sporting spirit in the years immediately following the devastating earthquake and fires of 1906. [New Century Wheelmen]” Back: “Riders / A. Born; W. Hanley; W. Hammitt; J. Coughlin; H. Born” Mark: “Forbes Silver Co. / Quadruple / 1051” Dimensions: H 9.5 in. x W 8.25 in. x D 5.5 in. Condition: Great condition; Very light tarnish; A bit of peppering on handle Front: “Granat Bros Trophy / 16th Annual Home Trainer Race / Feb. 20, 1917 / Won by [blank]” Back: [blank] Mark: “B” and “9 / Derby Silver Plate Co. / 966” Dimensions: H 10.5 in. x W 8 in. x D 5 in.
