Hunting tobacco box, lidded box, modeled deer, ceramic, Austria
About the Item
Excitingly designed lidded box / tobacco box, made from hand-painted and glazed ceramic, around 1900.
This box is shaped like a hoof and is designed like the outside of a deer antler. This horseshoe shape is exceptional. The lid is adapted to this shape and has a delicately modeled deer head with antlers. The lid is surrounded by antler tips.
Measurments approx.: height 4,53 in - 11,5 cm, width 5,91 in - 15 cm, depth 5,12 in - 13 cm.
The lidded box is not marked - so it cannot be attributed to a manufacturer; due to the design and the high quality of the workmanship, it can be assumed that it was manufactured in Austria or southern Germany / the Black Forest area.
A wonderful ceramic object, in excellent condition, suitable for anyone with a game or hunting connection.
