About the Item

A highly decorative pair of 19th century Regence-style painted & gilded architectural corbel elements with hand carved acanthus leaf detail, salvaged from the interior of a 19th century Quebec convent or church and then later converted to serve as bookends backed with an old beige felt fabric. Both retain their original hand painted & gilded accents, and showing minor losses as illustrated. In addition to serving as bookends these very handsome architectural elements would be very attractive desk accessories or displayed atop a mantle or in a bookcase.
