Antique Terrestrial Globe by German Institute Ráths on Brass and Marble Base

About the Item

Antique terrestrial globe by Prof. Dr. Arthur Krause made by the German institute Ráths. The globe has a scale size of 1 : 38.600.900. The globe rests on a brass bowl decorated with three patinated cast brass cherubs or angels holding a floral garland. The angels sit on scrolls ending in acanthus leaves mounted on a green turned marble base. The globe has a diameter of 13 inches and was made in former East Germany (DDR) in the early 1950s. The patinated and varnished cast brass ornaments combined with green marble make a great combination with the earthy colors of the globe. The piece is in great antique condition and shows great patina and little wear. The piece is highly decorative and fully functional.
