Kintsugi Terrestrial Globe “J.Forest – 17 rue de Buci 17” , circa 1900

About the Item

Kintsugi Terrestrial Globe “J.Forest – 17 rue de Buci 17” , circa 1900: A Unique Artwork, Restored Using the Ancient Kintsugi Technique. This terrestrial globe, dating back to around 1900 and signed “J.Forest – 17 rue de Buci 17” is a true time capsule. Measuring approximately 11 cm in diameter, it features an antique world map delicately crafted on paper, plaster, cardboard, and gold. As time has left its mark, this gem has been carefully restored using the Japanese Kintsugi technique. This traditional method involves repairing broken objects with gold, transforming each crack into a signature of the object’s history. Devoid of its original stand, this globe now stands as a standalone work of art, inviting contemplation and reverie. This creation was made in collaboration with Yolaine Voltz from the L’utile Zephyr workshop
