About the Item

Circa 1900 walnut fire screen from France. The frame is wonderfully hand-carved and has serpentine shaped sides for a lovely elegance which would be welcome in any decor. The frame is supported on hand carved shaped feet which have gorgeous detail as well. The central panel lifts out and can be dual sided with different fabrics for alternative choices. Although these were intended to keep the heat of a fire tempered for people sitting closer to the fire, they are wonderfully decorative in front of a fireplace.
