About the Item

Rogier Vandeweghe, stained glass panels, room divider, Belgium, 1955-1956 Distinctive stained glass panels by Belgian artist Rogier Vandeweghe commissioned by an abbey located in Brugge and were intended for the school. This piece is very impressive in its size, with a width of more than 420 cm/165 inches. Catching the eye easily with its geometrical shapes and colors used, this piece of stained glass creates a very interesting atmosphere in a space with ease. These panels would be an amazing choice to use as an build in room divider. The stained glass provides a very interesting play with natural or artificial light shining through it, displaying various dream-like colors and shapes. Rogier Vandeweghe (1923-2020) was a multi-disciplinary artist from Belgium. His oeuvre consists of ceramics, glass, and also paintings. Together with his brother, Laurent Vandeweghe, he started the workshop 'Perignem', around 1950. In 1954 they began making stained glass art in various ways. The wife of Rogier, Myranna Pyck, worked as an ceramic painter onwards from 1952 for 'Perignem'. In 1960 Rogier and Myranna changed the name of the studio to 'Amphora', and gained international recognition for their designs. Please note that this piece is fragile and in good, used condition. On a few parts of the glass there are damages or cracks visible, as to be expected with a piece this age. The glass can be replaced and/or restored in our in house atelier.
