Enormous and top quality carved antique coat rack with gilt bronze hooks. Over the years we have sold some of the most beautiful and amazing coat racks ever to have been created and this remarkable specimen is right up there with the absolute best. handcrafted and sculptural works of art like this will probably never again be made. The time it would take for one artisan to create a piece even remotely like this, would take hundreds of hours. It would make it unaffordable for most and it still would never be of this quality and beauty. The skills it takes to create a piece of this quality and class have simply died out. In image 4 you can get a better IDEA of the enormous size of this ancient eye-catcher. In the late 1800s this statement piece would have graced the entry hall of a substantial Dutch mansion and anyone coming through the door would have immediately been impressed by this incredible and large coat rack in the Renaissance Style. With a total of 10 hand carved mask sculptures (including the large and stunning lions) this could very well be the most sculptural coat rack we have owned to date. For us to have found it in this museum worthy condition made us, agian, feel grateful. We have worked hard (and still do) to get where we are today, but the universe certainly has been generous in somehow leading us the way. The three integrated, strong metal hooks on the back (the original ones) make it easy to safely mount this very large coat rack on your wall in just a few minutes.
