About the Item

An unusually long Karabagh runner, created in the most southerly of the main caucasian provinces, featuring Dragon motifs on a black field. The rug is decorated with three "Tarantula" medallions, perhaps a mongol talisman against attack by a tarantula;quite possibly, however, just a geometric motif. In between each medallion there appears a Dragon! The beautiful pale salmon color makes a striking contrast with the black field and a very narrow border surrounding the field makes the design even bolder than it was intended. The quality of the wool is absolutely of the highest grade, soft and floppy, great for organic dyes. The condition of this runner is excellent and in full pile with very few small low spots. There are no restorations on this runner and the overall look and tone of it is amazing.
