Kazak Ivory Kilim, circa 1890

About the Item

Rugs from the mountainous Caucasus region (now part of Russia) are prized for their superb wool, colors and exceptional weave. This rug was most likely a wedding gift because it is so well preserved and the colors are vivid and tightly woven. It was more likely used as a blanket because of the quality of wool. The ivory color is a rare addition, making this a desirable piece. Measures: 72" W x 115" L.
