Rustic Oak Sideboard, circa 1890
About the Item
This rustic, oak sideboard, which was crafted in the late 19th century, features a beveled top with a plate groove; a narrow center drawer flanked by wider side drawers with brass knobs; double, raised panel doors with a raised, center panel between them; and a scalloped apron. The base of the side drawers, back, and bottom of the sideboard have tongue and groove construction. Later additions were made to the inside of the sideboard, including four pull-out drawers and a hidden compartment for storing valuables recessed in a gap between the center drawer and the top of the sideboard. Each door and the center drawer have separate locks and keys, which are in working condition.
