About the Item

Hand knotted in wool originating from East Turkestan, circa 1890-1900, this antique rug connotes a Classic Khotan rug design with a Classic approach to transitional colorway celebrated in this oriental rug family. Sporting the meandering Chinese-style pattern in the outermost border and prevailing cloudband gul motifs among the repeating medallion field patterns, the variations of definition and charming distress play handsomely with the regal yet comfortable nature of this rug, favoring a gold, beige, and black array of hues select pieces from this time-honored line enjoy; a welcomed addition to the antique Khotan rug line in Rug & Kilim’s Antique & Vintage collection. Connoisseurs will note more prevalent wear and fading in the upper half of the rug.
