Large Oushak Carpet Silver Colored Wool

About the Item

The Oushaks (Usak in Turkish) were very famous Ottoman carpets, which were made between the 14th century and the 14th century. and the seventeenth century. in Usak city of the same name north of Denizli. They were carpets much appreciated by the court of Istanbul which commissioned various ones, especially large ones, but they were also the carpets of Venetian and Genoese merchants who had established a sort of maritime commercial monopoly with the Turks, bringing the first trades. The contemporary production of Ushak to meet the new furnishing trends has changed the color combinations, but its technical characteristics have remained the traditional ones. Always hand-knotted with wool warp and weft, the density of symmetrical knots is sparse. The wide-ranging designs follow the tradition. The colors are always natural, but now tend more towards light tones with various shades of beige and greige. A vintage effect has been added to our carpet which makes it even more precious.
